Searching for an interesting gift amongst all the presents for boyfriends out there? There’s a wealth of unique gifts available online and finding the perfect gift is sometimes just a click away. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve known your boyfriend for, there are some presents that you can give him anyway, that don’t have much of a bearing on the length of time you’ve spent together.

It can be a struggle sometimes to choose a generic present that’s sure to dazzle especially when you don’t want to come on too strong or appear too non-committal. Let’s take a look at 3 gift ideas that are great for boyfriends no matter where you are in your relationship with him.

1. Gadget Accessories – Every guy is crazy about some gadget or the other which makes your choice a lot easier! Is he inseparable from his ipod? Then you can get him an ipod docking station or a really cool pair of ipod speakers. Does he love to go for long drives in his car? Then a car satellite radio or a gps tracking device makes a great gift. On a tight budget? Then just go for inexpensive accessories.

Noise canceling headphones are a great buy especially if he travels a lot and can’t relax because of the noise. Shower radios are great fun for guys who enjoy a little music along with their shower. Just take a gadget inventory and choose an accessory he doesn’t have. He’s sure to love it!

2. Food Gifts – What foods does he love? Does he love organic foods? An organic food basket with foods sourced from the local farmers market could be just the right thing for him. Does he enjoy drinking coffee or does he wax lyrical about teas? If so, there are imported gourmet coffee and tea brands you can woo him with. Whatever foods he likes, there are sure to be upscale versions of them that he normally wouldn’t buy for himself. You can comfortably indulge in these types of presents, since they’ll be quickly consumed and leave him feeling pampered since he wouldn’t ordinarily have splurged on them himself.

Food gifts are some of the best presents for boyfriends, especially for a guy you’ve just begun dating since they aren’t too sentimental or personal.

3. Bizarre Gifts – Most people are unaware of many exciting things gifts out there that border on the bizarre. Dumbfound him with a gift that he never knew existed! For instance are you aware that you can buy bacon flavored dental floss, stainless steel wallets, levitating picture frames, transparent gear clocks and starry fiber-optic umbrellas, just to name a few? Just spend a little time searching for unusual, unique presents or even gag gifts and you’ll come upon some really wacky ideas.

If you don’t want to get that crazy you could play it slightly safer with things that he’s interested in. For instance if he’s a Star Trek Fan, there’s lots of Star Trek stuff out there, like phasers, scale models of the U.S.S. Enterprise and the R2-D2 robot that you can get him.

You’re sure to be right on track with your gift-giving when you choose these types of presents regardless of whether you are dating him seriously or casually. Just spend a little time and effort looking for presents for boyfriends and you’ll definitely come up with offbeat gift ideas that he’s sure to appreciate.

The Star Trek Experience inside the Las Vegas Hilton is one of the more unusual ‘rides’ a visitor can take anywhere, even taking Disneyland into account. While Disneyland offers many a thrilling ride these days, few actually involve live actors that interact with the ‘traveler’ during the ride. This is performance art at its best.
Before the actors appear, visitors have a chance to visit the museum housing a ton of Star Trek memorabilia, both new and from the actual shows. You’ll see costumes, weapons, communicators and a host of Borg, Klingons and Ferengi. Then enter the hallway leading to one of two rides.
The Experience offers two shows – the ‘Klingon Encounter’ and the ‘Borg Invasion 4-D’.
Klingon Encounter
Enter the ride for the ‘Klingon Encounter’ and find yourself ‘accidentally’ beamed aboard the Starship Enterprise, along with about 25 others, just as it’s about to be attacked by Klingons. Your atoms will be safely disassembled and reconstructed to end on the transporter pad inside the ship.
Move to the bridge and enter the world of the flagship of the fleet. You’ll quickly discover that Captain Picard has gone missing. Watch as the crew search desperately for their leader, while they try to protect their new guests. You’ll get close up views of all the advanced technology of a 25th century spaceship like the communication station, the tactical-weapons display and the famed captain’s chair.
Board the shuttlecraft to escape the doomed ship just in time. Unfortunately, the Klingons will be on your tail in no time and you can’t outrun them. Not to worry, the Enterprise will rescue you in the nick of time.
Borg Invasion 4-D
Taking an alternate path through space-time, you may be warped onto the ship USS Voyager as the Borg are about to attack. Here you’ll be trapped behind a visual display where you’ll see the Borg Queen taunt you that ‘it is futile to resist’. You’ll be assimilated and become her slave. Not a bad fate, some would argue.
But never fear. Admiral Katheryn Janeway will come to your rescue just in time. Through her courage and quick thinking, she’ll make sure that you retain your identity, ‘as long as the human spirit exists’.
You’ll experience the famed turbolift, but watch out for that ‘accidental’ free-fall drop that happens when the ship suffers a blow from a quantum torpedo. Don’t worry, the engineer will have the lights back on long before the warp core is breached.
Still, there are those pesky Borg drones above you on the catwalk to be dealt with. But before you can say ‘assimilate’ a phaser rifle takes one out and you’re safe… for the moment. Regrettably, your protector has been snatched by the other drones, who have adapted their protective shields to ward off further attacks.
But you escape at the last second into the vessel that will transport you safely back to your own time and place. As you dock, you get one last thrill as your chair rocks and prods you. The ride home is a little bumpy.
Freed from the confines of the escape ship, you enter the Deep Space Nine Promenade where you can visit Quark’s Bar. Take the opportunity to have a green drink and enjoy the ambiance. It’s been a tiring trip through a trillion miles, five centuries ahead and back. Relax. You’re safe now.
If you want to watch the entire show in your home you can visit http://www.MyBlockBuster.Info and get unlimited DVD movies.

With the J.J. Abrams Star Trek “origins” movie, this significant franchise is getting a much-deserved reboot into the popular consciousness. At the very end of the movie, when Leonard Nimoy recited the famous “Space: the final frontier…” intro and we heard the original TV show theme music, I was suddenly beamed into nostalgia land.I never considered myself to be a Trekkie, or Trekker, or Trekkist, or whatever you want to call them. Nevertheless, as a kid I made sure to catch every episode of Star Trek because the stories were thought-provoking and just plain fun.Sure, it was mostly a cheesy, low-budget fantasy show with laughably cheap sets, but Star Trek also featured some high-quality, well-written shows among the occasional mediocre ones. Some episodes were brilliant, some were so-so, but none were totally bad. Even the worst ones had something of interest to offer. Star Trek always made you think, in the same way The Twilight Zone would grab you and turn your usual thought patterns inside out and upside down.Returning to Yesterday with Star Trek: The Original Series (ST:TOS)Not too long ago, I was surprised to learn that all 79 episodes of ST:TOS can be found at CBS.com, remastered in Hi-Def with no commercials. And that brings me to a recent revelation. When I found this Trek treasure-trove, it was hard to decide what I should watch. Over the years, I’d seen most of the shows over and over again, but there were some that I had only caught once when they first aired.Pretty much at random, I played “Return to Tomorrow” and visited an episode I hadn’t seen in over forty years. From the perspective of an adult, I found this story to be a fine example of the worst and best aspects of the original Star Trek. The Enterprise comes across a planet that harbors pure-energy remnants of three survivors from a race that had died off half a million years earlier. These aliens seek to “borrow” the bodies of Enterprise crew members (Kirk, Spock and a hot chick) so they can build androids into which they will transfer their non-corporeal consciousness — then they can live again as physical beings. Complications and a corny tragic romance ensue in predictable fashion.A Prophetic Monolog: Captain Kirk’s famous “Risk” SpeechTwenty minutes into this episode, the key Enterprise members are trying to decide if they should comply with the alien’s wishes. All agree to go along except Dr. McCoy who considers the procedure to be unpredictable and far too risky. This prompts Kirk to give the following over-the-top speech, embarrassingly delivered in William Shatner’s trademark jolting, highly impassioned manner that has endeared him to millions of fans.”They use to say if mankind could fly, he’d have wings — but he did fly. He discovered he had to. Do you wish that the first Apollo mission hadn’t reached the moon, or that we hadn’t gone on to Mars and then to the nearest star? That’s like saying you wish that you still operated with scalpels and sewed your patients up with catgut like your great-great-great-great grandfather used to. I’m in command. I could order this, but I’m not because Doctor McCoy is right in pointing out the enormous danger potential in any contact with life and intelligence as fantastically advanced as this, but I must also point out that the possibilities — the potential for knowledge and advancement is equally great. Risk! Risk is our business. That’s what this starship is all about. That’s why we’re aboard her. You may dissent without any prejudice. Do I hear a negative vote?”The Moon Landing is ancient history in Star Trek’s worldDid you catch that reference to “the first Apollo mission”? This show originally aired on February 9, 1968. To the audience at the time, the moon landing had not yet taken place, and it was by no means a sure thing. In fact, we now know that there were serious technical problems encountered during the landing, and it was only the uncanny piloting skills of Neil Armstrong, plus a lot of luck, that avoided a horrible disaster on that momentous day in July, 1969.But for Captain Kirk, the moon landing was old news, as it is for us today. And this demonstrates the abiding appeal of science fiction that Star Trek brought to a global mass audience. “Risk is our business.” Embrace the possibilities of the future, then some day you can look back and marvel at the wonders that have come to pass.Past and Future Trek: Gene Roddenberry’s LegacyIn many ways, Star Trek showed us what was scientifically feasible — and in some cases, it actually made them come true. It is well-known that the cool futuristic “communicator” inspired the invention of a practical mobile phone (according to its inventor at Motorola, Dr. Martin Cooper). Now let’s get busy with the universal translator, phaser, replicator, transporter, and holodeck.Star Trek continues to lead humanity toward a wondrous future. The original series made a significant impression on the Baby Boomers, and the latest incarnation will certainly have a similar impact on Millennials who have never seen Classic Star Trek.Thank you, Gene (wherever you are), for continuing to portray a positive, exciting vision of humanity’s future. Hey, it looks like maybe I’m really a Trekkie after all. Okay, I can accept that… Beam me aboard!

Poker game psychology will always lend itself to making logical decisions for turning long-term profit. Now for you Star Trek fans, Commander Spock would be an excellent poker player because he has an insane ability for mathematical and scientific calculations, and because of his very nature would not be susceptible to emotional mistakes at the table. But what about Captain Kirk? While Captain Kirk appreciates Spock’s logical disposition, he will often times trump Spock’s knowledge simply because of intuition. As we know, Captain Kirk was the greatest Starfleet captain in the history of the world and has extraordinary leadership and decision skills. Okay then, back to reality. I liken Captain Kirk to Gus Hansen, who as a real life professional poker player seems to be able to combine Kirk’s fearlessness and Spock’s logic for his own strategy.Let’s face it, none of us are as good as Gus Hansen and will probably not attain those types of poker instincts ever, but you can look at your advancement in poker from a logical standpoint just like Spock would, and base your decisions on all of the available logic of the hand, the opponents, the game, and simply what is at stake. That is why many poker writers often recommend that you must remove your emotional connection at the poker table, which will allow you to make more profitable decisions long term.On the other hand, Kirk, like Gus Hansen has acquired a unique ability to read opponents and to make judgments based on other factors outside of simple logic. That is why Captain James T. Kirk and Gus Hansen are superstars in their own right, and certainly to be looked upon to possibly emulate. However, the skills they possess which allow them to compete at the highest human level are, like mentioned before, not likely attainable by us mortals.Instead, our strategy should be to look at a situation logically first, like Commander Spock would and then simply adding somewhat of a mathematical variance for the emotional errors and misjudgments your opponents may be committing. The real hard numbers, the facts that are actually calculable at the poker table, are far more reliable than abstract intuition, which by the way is usually a disguised, over confident version of anxious, hopeful thinking. This is far beyond basic holdem poker rules guys.Ideally you will want to use Spock’s style of logic first, as a way of learning the game and becoming competent to make correct decisions. The more that you do that, then Captain Kirk’s intuition is naturally going to seep into your game as it should, and you may eventually be able to make a Gus Hansen-like decision that does requires learned intuition.

If you want something beyond the typical, dull cursor, you can add excitement to your computer with a cute animated cursor. Several sites offer these animated cursors at no charge. Animated cursors are available in a wide variety of themes, from stars and flowers to anime characters to nostalgic cartoon characters.
My favourite animated cursor is one of Homer Simpson. I grew up watching The Simpsons, so having an animated Homer floating around my desktop is a great way to remember how much I loved the show when I was little. Even when I’ve had a horrible day, getting on my computer and seeing Homer dance as I browse the Internet never fails to make me smile. Finding the perfect animated cursor was as easy as a quick visit to an animated cursor website and downloading the cursor I wanted. Installation was fast and simple. Some sites that offer animated cursors also have programs available that allow you to design your own animated cursors. If you can’t find the perfect cursor for you, you can use the software and design the exact cursor that is right for you.
With all the animated cursors available, finding the right one should be a cinch. Many sites feature animated cursors from classic television shows, cartoon and movies, like Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, 101 Dalmatians, The Little Mermaid or Harry Potter. For the sci-fi or computer geek, there are a huge amount of cursors with a science fiction theme. You can get Star Trek, Red Dwarf, Stargate SG-1, Star Wars or Battlestar Gallatica animated cursors, or just about any other popular science fiction television show or movie. Computer geeks can choose from a variety of animated cursors featuring characters and items from EverQuest II, World of Warcraft, and other massively multi-player online role-playing games. Comic book geeks would enjoy X-Men, Spiderman or Batman animated cursors. Just for fun, you can even get an animated light saber cursor. Whatever you like, there’s bound to be a cursor that can help you express your devotion to your favourite cartoon, television show, movie or game.
Even if there isn’t a particular television show or movie that you like, you can still find an animated cursor that suits your style. You can get a seasonal or holiday-themed cursor to get you in the mood for the holidays. You can express your patriotism with an animated flag or a soaring bald eagle. Show off your mystical side with a flying dragon or a wand-waving wizard. You can get delicate flowers to get in touch with your feminine side. So many options are available that there’s something for everyone. All you need to do is search for free animated cursors online.

Green Screen Photography is gaining more and more in popularity, especially among small photography studios that wish to bring something new and innovative to their business – something that the large corporate photography studios don’t even bother with. Green screening, also called chroma keying, is the type of innovative technique that can give a small studio the critical edge needed to smother the competition. Moreover, if your studio can carve out a niche with a specialty such as fantasy photography, you’ll stand out in the vast photography field. In the world of green screen photography, there is the fantasy-theme option known as “sword and sorcery.” This includes the well-known game Dungeons and Dragons, and stories such as “Lord of the Rings.” These pictures are shot with the client in an authentic costume, posed in front of the green screen with a suitable weapon, such as a bow and arrow, sword, or wand. Then, add digital background scenery such as breathtaking views of nature or ancient architectural structures — especially castles. And here’s a tip: If the client wants to come across in the photo with a soft, mystical look, fasten a piece of nylon to your camera lens with a rubber band. Instant dreamy mystery. Science fiction is another widely used fantasy-theme choice. The more obvious of this genre would be “Star Trek”, “Star Wars” and “Babylon Five”. But it also includes steam punk (a Victorian era character who uses steam to power today’s technology) and the time and inter-dimensional travel character of “Dr. Who.” This particular niche come complete with thousands of costumed characters who are eager to be photographed. Here are some ideas for unforgettable photos: For shots on a space travel theme such as Star Trek, create the Enterprise’s observation deck, featuring a large window looking out onto a vast blanket of stars, or the Ten-Forward cantina, using a contemporary bar scene for the background. For steam punk, choose interiors of old Victorian homes.Yet another category that can combine elements of the first two is that of fairy tales. Fairies and other gentle creatures are the stars of these photos. Magical landscapes that relay an air of mystery and a bit of mischief work well for this genre. Remember, the fairy tale scenes aren’t just for children or costumed characters. There’s another unique group who love these particular photos: high school senior girls. Consider shooting their portrait with them in their prom dress, but then placing them in this mystical land. This ensures you provide them with instant magic and joyful memories. Finally, the last niche which can fit inside of all of these, yet also is all by itself, is that known as Anime and video game cos-play. For these types of photos, look into a lot of Asian inspired locations (both interior and exterior) as well as dilapidated locations such as an old warehouse or the remains of an ancient civilization. The most important factor to remember when you take a fantasy picture is that, no matter how odd or extravagant the costume is, and no matter where the setting is supposed to be, if you can make the photo realistic, your client will return to you time and time again.

Are you tired of the same old boring Holiday parties that everyone else is having? Here are some surefire hits for Christmas parties and other holiday parties with a little more life. The Cookie Exchange
For this party, each person bakes a pile of Christmas cookies before hand. If there are seven couples or people coming, then each person bakes seven dozen cookies. This way, everyone can go home with a dozen of everyone’s cookies. This cuts down on the baking for everyone and always makes for a fun time.A Themed Party
Sure, it’s the holidays. But why not have a themed party anyway? This is the time that everyone has to get a little break from work, so make your holiday party memorable by having a themed party. This could be as simple as having a Star Trek party and learning to say Happy Hannukah in Vulcan, or it could be as elaborate as having a Tarts’n'Vicars party. You might even want to have a football party one day and have everyone over to watch your favourite sport.A Costume Party
A costume party is an extension of the theme party idea. You could allow people to choose their own costumes. You could have a fancy dress masquerade ball, where everyone wears fancy dress but has to have the small masquerade mask too. (These ones are always a lot of fun!) Of course, if you can also have themed costume parties, such as a superhero costume party. For more information on costumes, visit the website below, The Guide to Costumes.Do some Charity
Why not collect canned goods from your party goers for admission? Or you could have a party where each person brings a small toy to be donated to needy children. You could consider theming your party around such organizations as Operation: Shoebox, where you could each bring in a shoe box with gifts.A Tasting Party
While we are all familiar with certain holiday tastes, can you and your friends stump each other with food? Bring in your most exotic recipes. Each person has to guess five ingredients from the recipes. The person with the most accurate tastebuds wins a door-prize (often, a recipe book is a good door prize).
You can also have a wine tasting (or beer tasting, or even pop tasting) party. See if your friends have discerning palates by testing out their tastebuds. Often, a beer tasting party is a good time because people think they can tell a lot about different kinds of beer!
In the end, the main rule for throwing holiday parties is that there are no rules for holiday parties! Choose your venue, choose your theme, and choose your entertainment. Why not celebrate a Christmas in July like the Australians do, when they celebrate Christmas six months late (or early, depending on how you look at it), because their seasons are backwards. You can have people over for a tropically themed party. Shrimps on the bar-b, anyone?

Pop quiz. What do Lucille Ball, an ex-cop and a certain pointy-eared, green skinned alien have in common? Believe it or not, the cop and the Vulcan both worked for the redheaded comic icon during the early days of “Star Trek.”
Writer/producer Gene Roddenberry’s military drama, “The Lieutenant,” caught the attention of senior executives at Desilu Productions, the production company owned by
Lucille Ball. By the early 1960’s, Desilu was one of the most successful production companies in television and looking to expand and Gene Roddenberry was one of the writer/producers recruited by the studio.
Because Desilu had a first look deal with CBS, they originally took “Star Trek” there, only to be told that the network had already bought a science fiction show from producer Irwin Allen and just wanted ideas for what would become “Lost in Space.” Shortly thereafter, they successfully sold NBC on shooting a pilot.
Gene Roddenberry was an idealist in many ways and wanted “Star Trek” to reflect his own ideas of equality and social justice, making it the first network series to feature people of multiple nationalities, races and even species working together in that first pilot, “The Cage.” But apparently he crossed the line when he cast a woman, actress Majel Barrett, as the ship’s second in command.
NBC liked the concept, but hated the pilot, ordering a second one and in the process demoting Ms. Barrett from Executive Officer to nurse. But she ultimately married the boss and became the only actor to have been in every “Star Trek” series (She’s the voice of the ship’s computer on all the Trek series and had a recurring role in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”). As for that second pilot, it sold the series to NBC and began what would become one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time.

About Us: On Tuesday, November 14, Majel Barrett Roddenberry joins son Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry and writer/director Nicholas Meyer for a special 40th Anniversary “Star Trek” Celebration at the world famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatres Complex in Hollywood, California following a screening of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” as part of the “Story Makers Studio” series at the Chinese. This tug-of-war between cold logic and sheer emotion is one of the things that made the original Star Trek so compelling. In virtually every episode, viewers got to see the tension between Spock’s computer-like view of the world and McCoy’s heartfelt passions… and through it all, you had Jim Kirk, mediating this conflict and serving as the voice of balance in this precarious friendship.
And a precarious friendship it was. No episode illustrates this better than The Tholian Web, in which Captain Kirk went missing amidst the spatial anomaly known as Tholian space. The crew had justifiably given him up for lost, and without Kirk, we saw the friendship between Spock and McCoy disintegrated as their natures repeatedly clashed. With the two officers at each other throats, it took a heartfelt plea from Kirk himself delivered through a pre-recorded message to remind them of how much they needed each other, and how they needed to balance each other out.
This is one of the things that made Kirk such an effective leader. He could act logically, but he also knew how the human heart or for that matter, the hearts of Klingons and Romulans operated. His decisions were never based on cold logic alone, nor were they based solely on the heart’s dictates. He knew that logic and emotion could complement each other, rather than simply being at odds.
A perfect example of this was the gambit that he played in The Corbomite Maneuver. In this episode, the Starfleet crew faced a mysterious foe in a giant spherical shipone that had the Enterprise vastly outgunned. Kirk and company had been checkmated; there was no apparent way out.
Or so it seemed. With a flash of inspiration, Kirk changed the game from chess to poker. Playing a carefully calculated bluff, he allowed his foe to overhear a transmission where Kirk threatened to set off a fictional “corbomite device” that would completely destroy any opponents and render that sector of space inhabitable. Kirk knew that they were logically outgunned, but that an emotional ployan appeal to fearwould do the trick.
The most effective leaders likewise combine both rationality and emotional intelligence. A manager who operates strictly on logic might emphasize the need to produce the best and most economical products in the market; however, someone with a deep understanding of human nature would understand that purchasing decisions are often made on emotional groundsrapport with the salesperson, for example, or the aesthetic appearance of the product. Products that sell typically incorporate both form and function, logical and emotional appeal.
A cold, calculating manager might recognize the need to confront employees who underperform or misbehave. A manager with high emotional rapport, on the other hand, would emphasize the need to handle these situations with delicacy, so as to provide correction without losing a valuable employee. Correction is often necessary, but an emotionally aware leader can correct people in such a way that they don’t realize they’ve been corrected.
Logic and emotion. Mind and heart. Rationality and compassion. The very best leaders combine these elements, harmonizing them just as Kirk balanced the tension between Spock and McCoy. It’s a lesson that’s worth learning.
